VB-G RAM G Scheme

VB-GRAM-G (Village Asset Building and Regeneration Management for Post-Harvest Activities) is a scheme formulated by the Government of India aimed at agricultural and infrastructure development in rural areas.

Its primary objective is to develop infrastructure at the Grama Panchayat level to prevent the spoilage of post-harvest agricultural produce and to facilitate value addition.

Key Objectives

  • Prevent Produce Loss: Avoid post-harvest losses caused by the lack of adequate storage facilities.

  • Value Addition: Promote small-scale units to process locally sourced agricultural produce.

  • Rural Asset Creation: Construct cold storage facilities, drying yards, warehouses, and mini-processing units under the leadership of Grama Panchayats.

  • Enhance Farmers' Income: Ensure fair prices for farmers by eliminating exploitation by middlemen.

Key Features

  • Panchayat-Level Coordination: Assets under the scheme are established on land owned by the Panchayats or in public spaces.

  • Employment Opportunities: Provides entrepreneurial ventures and employment opportunities for Kudumbashree/Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in rural areas.

  • Convergence with Other Schemes: Infrastructure is developed through convergence with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), and other local development funds.
