Key Objectives of Standing Committees

Under the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, Standing Committees are constituted to efficiently execute the functions of Grama Panchayats and supervise various developmental activities. In Meenachil Grama Panchayat as well, Standing Committees are actively functioning to ensure sectoral development, welfare initiatives, financial management, healthcare services, and educational advancement.

• Carry out the planning and supervision of Panchayat projects.

• Review and evaluate the progress of developmental activities.

• Ensure the efficient implementation of various government schemes.

• Address public needs and grievances, and suggest necessary solutions.

• Submit requisite recommendations to the Panchayat administrative body.

Standing Committees of Meenachil Grama Panchayat

1. Finance Standing Committee

Leads the panchayat's financial affairs, budget preparation, tax collection, revenue-expenditure control, and audit of accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Annual budget preparation

2. Development Standing Committe

Manages the Panchayat's financial affairs, budget preparation, tax collection, revenue-expenditure control, audit of accounts, and coordinates rural infrastructure development, agricultural development, employment schemes, and poverty alleviation programs.

3. Welfare Standing Committee

Operates in sectors such as social security schemes, women and child welfare, elderly welfare, and welfare of persons with disabilities (differently-abled).

4. Health & Education Standing Committee

Evaluates the functioning of healthcare and educational institutions and leads developmental activities in the health and education sectors.
